Our Story

WELCOME TO DORSET PASTRY

Dorset Pastry is nestled amid the rolling hills of West Dorset; a traditionally made, high quality, additive-free, and preservative-free pastry for both retail and food service.  As multi award-winning producers, we source only the best ingredients and use traditional methods such as hand-folding and resting to create the very highest quality pastry.  

Our pastry doesn’t contain any stabilisers, relaxants, or additives – commonly used to ensure consistency in mass production.   In fact, we are the first producers of Organic Puff Pastry in the world, and the only producers of Organic Puff Pastry in the UK.  Our pastry is sold frozen, and the taste and characteristics can vary slightly, depending on the season or weather conditions when the wheat was harvested, and the butter produced.  We like to think that this organic approach to pastry-making gives us an edge – a unique taste inspired by the West Country and all its elements.      

Dorset Pastry’s signature Puff Pastry is a firm favourite with chefs and customers across the country.  You can find it in the kitchens of the UK’s best restaurants as well as in the freezers of top chefs – a well-kept secret among the best.

ALL FINE BUTTER PUFF PASTRY

Our all butter fine pastry is made and rested in the traditional manner using only the finest British ingredients.  Pre-rolled for your convenience and using enriched patisserie butter it will rise up rich and airy for flaky, golden, baked goods. 

ALL BUTTER TRADITIONAL PUFF PASTRY

Manufactured to the same standard as our fine puff pastry using the same ingredients, the traditional puff pastry has been developed specifically for food service. With a lower butter content, it is more robust and lends itself to food to products such as pies, pasties and sausage rolls.

ALL BUTTER SHORT CRUST PASTRY

Using only the finest British ingredients our short crust all butter pastry has a buttery, crisp and melt in the mouth quality. Our short crust also known as a Pâte Brisée will bake off with a deep golden colour, a crumbly and biscuit like texture it is perfect for quiches, tarts. 

ALL BUTTER SWEET SHORT CRUST PASTRY

Our all butter sweet short crust pastry or pâte sucrée is a fine and light pastry with the perfect crumb and bite. Unbelievably sweet and buttery it is the perfect counterpoint to sour or bitter fillings.  It contains no additives or preservatives and is GM free using only British ingredients
